Accommodation Types and Styles for your England UK holiday

Marazion Cornwall England

Welcome - There is no shortage of accommodation in England even in the summer months but if you want to stay in a city centre, a prime beach location, or close to an attraction it definitely pays to book ahead. If you are travelling by car and are prepared to stay in wayside bed and breakfast hotels you can be sure you will find accommodation quite easily.
Another advantage of booking ahead is the discount available for early bookers - this can be up to 60% of the original cost. Price comparison is always worthwhile as the same hotel may be offered at a wide range of prices.
The final benefit is that of being able to get the number of nights you prefer. As it gets closer to the date the availability dates become fragmented so you can only get one or two nights rather than a week. Changing hotels is time consuming and a nuisance so to make the most of your holiday you will want to avoid this.

Package or independent bookings - packages have the advantage of being easy to organise, ofer a single point of contact and can be good value. Superbreak">Superbreak does packages which include rail travel, hotel and attraction or theatre tickets, for less than the cost of the components if bought seperately. Last Minute also offer packages but do not include rail travel. Wired Destinations, Great Late Deals, Hotels.com also offer hotel packages without the attraction tickets. It is also possible to rent an appartment at Vacation Home Rentals
Independent travel takes more effort to organize but can save you money, especially if you have special requirements, qualify for a discount based on age, student status or are travelling as a family group, or want to visit the more off beat destinations.
The tourist office is the best friend of the independent traveller - they all offer accommodation lists, maps, regional offers and for a small fee a book a bed ahead service.
There is another alternative that also helps the universities in the UK. During the summer months when the students are on the long vacation the universities let the rooms to visitors. Rooms are availaible in all standards from double ensuite rooms to standard rooms with a washbasin and shared bathroom. All universities offer the use of a kitchen and many offer a breakfast. Do check that linen is included before booking. All ages are welcome -some even offer discounts to seniors. This is a list of some of the universities offering accommodation between late June and mid September.
