- The holiday season is in full swing again now in May 2009. There are two bank holidays this month in England, May 4th and May 25th. The historic houses and gardens are open again for the summer season.
This is a great time to take a holiday in England with many celebrations centred around the bank holiday weekends ( bank holidays are usually on a Monday so many people take short breaks to make the most of the long weekends).
If you prefer a quieter time June is a good month to visit. There are many bargain offers for holidays in England for the month of June which has no bank holidays and is before the start of the long summer school vacation.
The peak season is from July to early September when the weather is at its best and the schools are closed. These are busy times for resorts,holiday camps and hotels so it is wise to look ahead and book early.
With the current economic situation more people are deciding to holiday in England this year, an expected increase of 20% in the bookings. There is also a trend towards value breaks such as those offered by Superbreaks which offer good value by packaging a hotel stay with a ticket to a show or event.
The outbreak of swine flu has not significantly affected travel in England. Although there are some confirmed cases they are considered mild. For the latest information the BBC website is the best source.
Some of the most popular tourist resorts in Sussex and Dorset are now starting to accept payments in the euro and the dollar. This is a very welcome step to many visitors on holidays in England.
