Salisbury
- The Best Places To Eat & Drink In Town...
As
you might expect from a town so
popular with holiday makers to England, Salisbury has no shortage of
pleasant
places to eat and drink. There are multiple restaurants,
café’s, pubs and
more within touching distance of Market Place.
If
you’re peckish in Salisbury
Cathedral then pop into the Cathedral Refrectory
restaurant – there’s
a wide variety of hot and cold snacks. Not brilliant, but convenient if
you plan
to do the Cathedral in a lot of detail.
One
of the most reputed pubs in
Salisbury serves up some tasty Sunday lunches and food in general
– The
Cloisters is located on Catherine Street – live
bands and discos are also
regularly held.
Near
Market Square is the Bakers
Oven – convenient for a quick, cheap lunch as they
do some nice
sandwiches.
On
Bridge Street, right in the city
centre is Bishops Mill, a restaurant set in a 17th
century
building – it’s somewhat more pricey than the
average Salisbury fare but
still well worth a visit.
For
more established haunts, there is
a Pizza Express and Pizza Hut opposite Market
Square (within a two minute
walk of one another). Also on Market Square is the bubbly Market
Inn pub
– centrally located and offering a fair choice of mostly
English food and
drink. Another pub with a lot of character is the Haunch of
Venison, set
in a building that dates to the 1320. The pub is on Minster Street.
Getting back
to Market Square, Mr T’s is a nice
café with a varied menu and good
snacks.
Lxix
is one of the trendiest eateries in Salisbury – the ambience
and surroundings
are very stylish and so are the prices. The food is predominantly
British in
substance and flavour.
You
can enjoy some good old fashioned
Fish & Chips in Salisbury at the Harbour Fish
& Chips Restaurant.
Prices are reasonable. On High Street is the reputed Prezzo, serving up
fresh
Italian food including Pizza and Pasta. Near the railway station on
Fisherton
Street is The Dragon, a functional Chinese
restaurant and one of the
Oriental options Salisbury has to offer.
There
are also a couple of bars to
enjoy in Salisbury – Moloko (Bridge
Street), Spirit and NN Bar
(both on Catherine Street) are a couple of the choices. A popular gay
bar is Café
Pride along Salt Lane.
